Ob Goethe Gefallen an Heinz Erhardts Parodie „Der Fischer (frei nach Johann Sebastian Goethe)" gefunden hätte, muss leider offen bleiben.

Diese Hausarbeit erhebt nicht den Anspruch, eine vollständige Balladenanalyse zu leisten, vielmehr geht es darum Erhardts parodistische „Werkzeuge" und deren Wirkung zu beschreiben. On 11 November 1920, huge crowds lined the streets of London for the funeral of the Unknown Warrior. As the coffin was drawn on a gun carriage from the Cenotaph to Westminster Abbey, the King and Ministers of State followed silently behind. The modern world had tilted on its axis, but it had been saved. Armistice Day was born, the acknowledgement of the great sacrifice made by a whole generation of British men and women.

Now, almost a century later, Harry Patch, the last British veteran who saw active service, has died. Our final link with the First World War is broken.

Harry Patch was born in 1898 and was conscripted in 1916. He served with a Lewis gun team at the Battle of Passchendaele and in September 1917 was wounded by a shell that killed three of his comrades. After the war, Patch returned to Somerset to work as a plumber, a job he continued to do until his retirement.

The First World War was fought not by a professional army but by ordinary civilians like Patch, who epitomised Edwardian Britain and the sense, now lost, of what Britain stood for and why it was worth fighting for. The Last Veteran tells Patch's story, and explores the meaning of the war to those who fought in it and the generations that have followed. Peter Parker's illuminating and timely book is a moving tribute to a remarkable generation.

About the Author
Peter Parker was born in Herefordshire and educated in the Malverns, Dorset and London. He is the author of The Old Lie: The Great War and the Public-School Ethos (1987) and biographies of J.R. Ackerley (1989) and Christopher Isherwood (2004). He edited The Reader's Companion to the Twentieth-Century Novel (1994) and The Reader's Companion to Twentieth-Century Writers (1995), and was an associate editor of The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (2004). He writes about books and gardening for a wide variety of newspapers and magazines and lives in London's East End.

About the Author
Ron Barrett is the internationally bestselling illustrator of many books for children, including Cats Got Talent, Superhero Joe, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Pickles to Pittsburgh, Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothing, and Old MacDonald Had an Apartment House. His illustrations have been honored by the Society of Illustrators and have been exhibited at The Louvre in Paris. He lives in New York City.

Funny feline follies provoke giggles.

If you own at cat (and even if you don't) this is a entertaining picture book. When three kitties are sent packing from their households they band together to form a singing trio. All well and good but, as we know, cats "singing" is not music to most ears but in this instance it all works out. Funny illustrations and a cute story will make your little kitten mew with pleasure so you'll want to put this book on your "to buy" list.

Moreover, the sensitivity of women writers to the individual side of spiritual life, in contrast with the practices of organized religion, also emerges as a major trend in this book, with women often being seen as a voice for social and religious change, or for a more meaningful, personal faith. Lastly, despite a blatant rejection of God and religion, spiritual threads still run through the works of one of France’s most celebrated contemporary writers (Marguerite Duras), whose cry for an absolute in the midst of a spiritual vacuum only reiterates the quest for transcendence or for some form of spiritual expression, as voiced in the works of her female predecessors and contemporaries in France, and as demonstrated in this book.

Aside from a common language, the authors examined in this collection—which is organized in chronological order from the works of Christine de Pisan to the 21st-century Franco-Algerian author Malika Mokeddem's La Nuit de la Lézarde—all share an impetus to strike out on their own, to defy gender-based cultural confinement, and to challenge the organized church in one way or another. Trading religious orthodoxy for spiritual fulfillment, Marguerite de Navarre, Madame de Lafayette, George Sand, Simone Weil, and Marguerite Duras (and other less canonical writers) are presented here as pioneers forging unconventional paths toward God. Inspired by the work of the North American Christian Foreign Language Association, this collection gains momentum and purpose as it addresses more contemporary writers; the later essays are among the strongest. About the Author
Lynn Munsinger is the illustrator of many funny and popular books for children, including the stories starring Tacky the Penguin and Wodney Wat. She divides her time between Connecticut and Vermont.

Helen Lester and Lynn Munsinger have been together through thick and thin since first publishing The Wizard, the Fairy, and the Magic Chicken in 1983. They have collaborated on the hilarious Tacky the Penguin series and many other wildly funny and popular titles, including the award-winning Hooway for Wodney Wat. Helen Lester is a full-time writer who makes her home in New York, and Lynn Munsinger is a full-time illustrator living in Vermont.

Our entire family loves this book. How can you resist a chicken in a tutu, a magic chicken at that, and a magic pickle? This is such a cute book and we love the fact that it's all about working together to solve a problem (even if it's one you've created yourself). My 3 love it and can identify with the characters. We also love the Revenge of the magic chicken, but alas it is now out of print (check your library).

The Wizard, the Fairy, and the Magic Chicken - very Funny

Very funny. My 4 and 6 year old loved it. The characters try to one up each other and it goes awry with the Magic Chicken. It lets the kids figure out a solution to the problem before the Magic chicken and that makes them feel good. It also teaches them some good morals. But mostly it's funny.
