I studied under Dr. Kent at Old Dominion University; she was an incredible teacher and scientist. I am re-reading this book presently. In studying women's issues and women's equality, as it relates to modern American women, finding empirical, unbiased and educated data written by anthropologists and archaeologist is difficult at best. Finding information accessible to the layperson is next to impossible. Sue's book is all of the above. It's written in a matter of fact way with language accessible to everyone. Yes it does infer you have a working knowledge of the sciences, and yes it uses the "lingo" of the sciences; however it is clear and concise. After 20 years, I still understood what she and the other writers were saying. I mourn Dr. Sue Kent and her down-to-earth personality..
