Kay Robertson is the revered matriarch of the Robertson family and star of A&E®’s Duck Dynasty®. For almost five decades, she’s been keeping Phil and her boys from spending too much time in the woods by bringing them back to civilization with a home cooked meal. A Scrumptious Collection of Authentic, Down-Home Louisiana Recipes

Miss Kay's family recipes are a delicious mix of traditional Southern dishes, with a lively dash of Louisiana Cajun thrown in, and generous servings of faith and love. The delightful matriarch of the Duck Commander dynasty is a gifted and artful cook. This beautifully designed book includes many fun photographs and is easy to use. The whole Robertson clan contributes recipes; it's a great read for both men and women. Miss Kay shares stories and sage advice, with techniques for creating the most delicious meals with easily prepared, classic Southern soul-food, like creamy macaroni & cheese (cheese melted on top, yum), buttermilk biscuits, and Lisa's pecan chicken. There are savory Cajun dishes like Willie's chicken strips, spicy brisket, and easy crawfish étouffée. Satisfying deserts are down-home good, including classic cookies, Phil's pralines, Miss Kay's famous banana pudding, and Jase's favorite sweet potato pie. This pie motivates him to put up Miss Kay's vast collection of Christmas decorations! Now, we can enjoy Miss Kay's cooking too; real food for real people. Miss Kay's Duck Commander Kitchen: Faith, Family, and Food - Bringing Our Home to Your Table gives inspiration on how folks can enrich their lives by making time to gather around the dinner table and create good memories. A lot of thought went into this classy, friendly, easy to use, lovingly photographed, and downright hospitable cookbook. It's like a big, warm hug from Miss Kay. You'll feel welcomed into the circle of Miss Kay's family and friends, with fun stories and plentiful, practical, and delicious recipes. Each chapter begins with a story from Miss Kay, all the recipes include helpful notes. The beautiful layout and photos are a treat. The recipes consist of wholesome ingredients that are easily obtainable from any grocery store. Only a few recipes (towards the back of the book) call for wild game, and Miss Kay suggests easy substitutes if we lack access to this. For example, Miss Kay helpfully suggests substituting precooked rotisserie chicken for squirrel in "Boiled Squirrel & Dumplings," page 199. The resulting chicken & dumplings are savory and irresistible! The cookbook walks us through traditional dishes and deserts, easily incorporated into any home. Some of the Louisiana recipes call for a dash of Cajun seasoning, which can be any brand found locally. Or, you can look for Miss Kay's preferred kind here: Duck Commander Phil Robertson's Cajun Style Original Seasoning or Duck Commander Phil Robertson's Cajun Style Zesty Seasoning. You may also want to see the fun DVD with the Robertson clan cooking in The Commander's Kitchen; a nice recipe pamphlet is enclosed, but you'll want to get the more extensive book reviewed here! As Phil says, "If you're a skinny little yuppie girl, this is the show you need, right here." Phil carefully shows how to fix several of his favorite specialties, along with dishes prepared by sons Alan, Willie, and Jep, kinfolk (Jay), Alan's lovely wife Lisa, and of course, Miss Kay! We love how little Miss Kay talks in that special way to her precious Bobo & J.J. (those smart Rat Terriers watch for precious scraps). So we wait in hope of a possible "Miss Kay with Bobo, J.J., and Pets" episode of Duck Dynasty, with her doing that unique dog-whisperer thing, like nothing else on earth! I also highly recommend Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander, which we read aloud in the evenings from cover to cover. Enjoy!

I love this cookbook! It is chock full of yummy recipes. In addition, Miss Kay adds little glimpses into her and her family's life with quotes, stories and pictures.
A must have for any Duck Dynasty fan.

Simple recipes that you can use anytime. Most all that I've used has regular ingredients that you would normally use. Looking forward to making lots of memories cooking with my kids and passing this book down!
