In fact, it was difficult to put this book down once I started reading it.

About the Author
John B. Muciaccia holds a doctoral degree from New York University and is a widely respected educator with a successful career of over thirty years as a public school teacher and administrator. He was also the director of the nationally recognized “Famous People Program,” a program designed to motivate students of all levels that ran for over twenty years and that was featured both on television and in the New York Times. Dr. Muciaccia continues to practice the methods presented in “Thinking in English” through his English tutoring business in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and he resides in Hoboken, New Jersey, where he is at work on his second book.

In this book, Dr. Muciaccia creates a special blend of scientific observation, artistic awareness, and polished craftsmanship. That insight provides qualities needed in all successful teaching.

Waste of Money

This book can be summed up in two words: cultural immersion. Language immersion is not a new concept. The book is written for a beginning teacher working IN the USA--not for the hundreds of experienced ESL teachers in other countries (though there are bits of useful info for teachers in S. Korea). One also feels it's written to celebrate the author's career. Not very helpful. Very disappointing. No method of helping ESL students "think in English" is offered: just watch movies, TV, read, write emails, do homework and talk. Again, not news. This book is a lecture, and the content provides neither a practical guide nor a new perspective.
